Mammography breast cancer
The mammogram, or radiograph breast, can detect breast cancer before you feel any lump on palpation. In the procedure presented here is, there is a sinus at a time on a photographic plate to X-ray and is used a plastic sheeting to gently flatten the breast against the plate. It is normally take two or three plates of different angles.

Within normal
This presents a mamograma within normal. The most dense, white, the channels are galactóforos.

Sinus tumor
The dense white area at the bottom of this mamograma indicates a tumor. It is necessary a biopsy to determine whether it is cancerous.

Issue on mammography
Question: A friend of mine who did a mammogram showed no signs of cancer. However, two years later, the doctor diagnosed him with breast cancer. A mammogram is really worthy of trust?

Answer: A mammogram does not provide for the development of cancer, but safely detect a tumor within if it has reached a certain volume, and often before it can be felt by palpation. A tumor that grows quickly becomes significant between two screenings.
The discovery of tumors depends on the frequency of examinations.

For breast cancer, the survival rate after five years of diagnosis is located from the 90% when the cancer has been removed in its early stages, until a minimum of 10%, where it has spread to other parts of the body by When the diagnosis.
    Treatment

There are several possible methods of treatment, ranging from excision of the tumor only until various types of mastectomy, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and drugs to control the hormonal level. The choice depends on the type and stage of cancer, age of women and their choice. Often, it is simultaneously using two or more methods. New cases made possible the reconstruction of the breast, which is an important part of rehabilitation. In recent years have walked towards a greater recognition of the emotional consequences of breast cancer. At present, the doctors know better the concerns of patients for surgical interventions and a possible disfigurement. Furthermore, there are self-help groups, which give women a forum for discussion and support.

In Japan, breast cancer is less common than in the U.S.. Its early detection through mammography. should improve the survival rate.

All lumps in the breast that arise should be suspected to be caused cancer, although the majority is not, in fact, about four out of five are benign. The American Cancer Society recommends that women older than 20 years should perform monthly self-examination of the breasts. The definitive diagnosis can only establish itself through a biopsy. The chances of detecting breast cancer at an early stage and therefore curable increased significantly after the introduction of mammography (examination under a low dose X-ray), can find cancers too small to be felt even by the most experienced examiner. It is recommended that women do a mammogram every two years between 40 and 50 years and annually after 50.

    Surgical procedures

The following are four operations to remove breast cancer, but there are several variations. The operation advised depends on the size and extent of the tumor and its appearance when seen under the microscope. For tumors up to a certain stage, a large-scale operation does not give greater chance of survival than a more conservative operation. At present, it is most often recommended procedures of the type of excision of tumors, followed by radiation.
The patient and doctor should discuss the reconstruction of the breast before reaching a decision on the kind of operation to be done.
    Excision of a tumor

In this operation, only if you remove the tumor and a small amount of surrounding tissue and some lymph nodes in the armpit of the affected side. The following is the excision to radiation and often chemotherapy.
    1. It is a small incision on the tumor.
    2. Remove the tumor itself and a small portion of adjacent tissue and suture up the incision.
    3. The scar is barely noticeable and is located within a small depression.
    Partial mastectomy

In this case, you remove one part of the breast tissue that contains the tumor. As above, draw up some lymph nodes of the armpit, it will follow, probably, some sessions of radiotherapy.
    1. They are the incisions necessary for the removal of the breast tissue as well as lymph nodes from the armpit.
    2. Remove the tumor itself and a lot of skin and adjacent tissue. Suture up the incision.
    3. The resulting scar is clearly visible, the breast is usually smaller than before and with a depression.
    Subcutaneous mastectomy

In this transaction, removes itself throughout the internal fabric of the breasts, but left to the nipple and as much skin as possible. It is then a silicone implant. Shall be examined carefully the lymph nodes of the armpits and may draw out some of them for biopsy. Alternatively, it is also removes skin and nipple - what is known as the roof structure but simple. The breast will be reconstructed later.
    1. It is often the incision under the breast.
    2. Remove the tumor itself and all or nearly all of the breast tissue.
    3. It is in the midst of a silicone implant in order to restore the appearance. 4. Suture up the incision. The resulting scar is commonly located under the breast.
    Modified radical mastectomy

Remove the whole within itself and all the lymph nodes of the armpit in a single block of tissue, if possible, leaving the muscles of the chest stay in place. The heart can rebuild itself later. Rarely is remove the muscles of the chest.

    1. It is a large elliptical incision, which tracks the entire breast and extends up to the armpit. Cut up the whole fabric of the sinus to the chest muscles, together with the axillary lymph nodes. It was then suture the incision.
    2. It is a big scar through the heart.
    3. May be the reconstruction later, using a portion of skin and fat underpinning of a location close to the chest, and making the encorporação of a silicone implant, with the nipple reconstruction.

This section alerts us to the symptoms of warning and indicates and describes the methods to be chosen for a self-examination in order to increase the chances of an early detection of cancer.

What are the symptoms of cancer?
Many cancers indicate their presence at an early stage, when the full cure is still possible. However, it is not always easy to recognize the early symptoms of cancer, because sometimes they are vague. For example, feeling bad about the weather like or feel a mild fever for a day is something that should not frighten anyone, however should lead to such serious symptoms, should persist.

To perform a breast self-examination to, should feel the same looking for some more hard lump or area / rough. If you feel a lump parsing should consult your doctor immediately, within any lump should be seen by a doctor, so to eliminate the chance of cancer, even if they are more likely other causes not malignant, as a benign tumor or a cyst.

After you examine their breasts, the doctor, if satisfied that there is cause for caution, send it to a mammogram and a biopsy.

    Causes and Prevention breast cancer
Increased age is a risk factor. Few cases of breast cancer occur before the 30 years, most occurring after the 50th. Family history of this type of cancer is a risk factor, although only about 25% of women have contemplated that the family history of the disease. A woman who has never been greater mother is at risk, and you had your first child after 30 years. It is also significant the interval between the onset of menstruation and first pregnancy complete. A woman whose first menstruation arose very early and complete their first pregnancy has been found, for example, after the 20 may incur a higher risk. Moreover, it is still who are at higher risk women who have undergone radiotherapy still young, and those who had a late menopause.

Studies have shown that oral contraceptives slightly increase the risk of breast cancer, while others have shown that there is no connection between them. Motherhood in early adulthood appears to be a protection factor. Women whose first pregnancy occurs later or not arriving children seem to have run a slightly higher risk.

    Reproduction
The incidence of breast cancer increases with the length of the fertile woman's life. Women who had an early menstruation and late menopause are at an increased risk.
Women who had their first child soon face a lower risk of breast cancer, endometrial and ovarian regarding who had their first child later or not reached him. A pregnancy ending in abortion do not appear to have the same protective effect on breast cancer as those who come to a successful conclusion. It is believed that the beneficial effect of pregnancy is due to the stimulation of breast milk to form after a full pregnancy.
